Attic

Victoria never visited Eris’s room on the topmost floor. Originally a place for storage, Eris decided to make this room hers, among the buckets, rags and tools. With a sweep of her leg, Eris carved a path to her bed, pressing the clutter further against the walls.

She unsheathed her snakeskin dagger from her boot and twirled it between her fingers, staring at the candlelight until the fog of sleep settled over her.
